The Truth

I’ve got some mean skills in the yard with flowers, plants, garden produce, etc. But when it comes to house plants I’ve got a giant black thumb. I’ve killed more houseplants than I can even remember.

True story: we received a beautiful Peace Lily as a wedding gift from Josh’s aunt and uncle (side note: his uncle is a houseplant genius). I don’t think we were married a year before we gave back our Peace Lily for his uncle to nurse back to health and it hasn’t made it back to our home. I wouldn’t trust us with such a beautiful plant either!!

It’s sad, but true.

Reminds me of Sue,a bridge club friend. She had several plants in various rooms – not all live. She usually kept a big Boston ferm (dried, or however it was kept green) in a pot in her entry way. Someone commented that it looked different. Sue said that it was – the old one had to be replaced because it turned a funny color – thought she was the only person who could kill a dead plant.

Cacti live longer in my house than anything else. Grandma K.
