A Christmas First

Today we celebrated Christmas with part of my dad’s side of the family (the Dermand’s) in a very unconventional way…in the hospital!

Merry Christmas!

Josh and I were originally going to host the group at our house, but Grandma didn’t feel up to the trip after spending last week in the hospital so we planned to take the party to their apartment in Webster City. As Josh and I were heading out of town I received a call from my dad that Grandma was back in the hospital this morning. Oh, and we also had a flat tire that needed to be repaired  before we left town!

From her emergency room bed she gave us strict orders to bring Christmas to her! Aunt Emily, with pen in hand, began writing down Grandma’s instructions on what to bring. A quick trip to the apartment and we unloaded the party at the hospital. We warmed the soups in the microwave, borrowed a table from the cafeteria, and we had our Christmas spread!

Family was definitely the best medicine for Grandma today. It was good to see a smile on her face!

Hope your Grandma is feeling better. I’m sure she appreciated all of her family in the hospital to celebrate Christmas.
