Crowd-Pleasing Snack

This recipe couldn’t be simpler to make and is a huge hit at parties, tailgates, church functions, and work potlucks. My mom shared it with me a couple of years ago and I thought I’d pass along the goodness!

  • 2 Cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup Margarine
  • 1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 17.9oz Box of Crispix
  • 1/2 a jar of peanuts
  • 2 cup of pretzels
  • 1 16oz bag of plain M&M’s
  • Brown paper bag

In a sauce pan add brown sugar, margarine, and corn syrup.  Bring to a boil for 3 minutes, remove from heat and stir in the baking soda. While saucepan yumminess is melting and boiling…in the paper bag combine the Crispix, peanuts, and pretzels. Dump bubbling yumminess into the paper bag, shake well and microwave for 3-3 1/2 minutes, shaking every 30 seconds.

Add the bag of M&M’s the last 30-45 seconds. After microwave cooking is complete, spread gooey yumminess onto newspaper or wax paper to cool. When cool, break into smaller chunks and store in a tupperware.

Note: if mixture remains sticky after it’s cooled, it wasn’t cooked long enough…trust me, it’s happened! 🙂
