After we made the decision to forge ahead with purchasing our new home even though we haven’t sold our townhouse, we (well, mostly me I’m sure) went into a honeymoon state that floods when you finalize the closing date. The painting, new hardware, furniture placement, new shower curtains…and the list goes on. I just can’t wait to get in and make this new house feel like mine.
But…reality really set in this weekend. In just 10 days we will be carrying TWO mortgages and the fun stuff may just have to be put on the back burner to paying bills. I’m generally okay with that. We’re getting the house we want and it’s move in ready (minus the cosmetic changes). Eventually we will sell our townhouse and will be to really make the new house our home.
Now I’m worried it won’t feel like home when we move in because I might not be able to get all the painting done that I want, the cabinet pulls updated, and the kitchen faucet changed out…they seem like little things, but these little things are what make a house a home.
It will all work out and eventually we’ll check things off our list, but I wouldn’t be JAYNE if I didn’t worry about the little things! AND it doesn’t take away how excited that we are moving.
