Too smart for her own good! July 29, 2009

I know, everyone says that their child (or in my case, dog) is so smart.  Well, I’m pretty sure Miss Zoey is super smart for a dog.  On top of knowing where the window is (we say, “Zoey look out the window” and she runs over), who Mr. Lobster is, and the word dinner (“Zoey, are you ready for dinner?”).  She also seems to know when it’s her play time outside.  When we are home for the day, at promptly 2pm she sits at the back door waiting for the magical time.  Although she’s about an hour or so early for her normal play time…what the heck!?  How can she sense that?

Weekend with Dad July 27, 2009

Filed under: Family, Jayne — The Oswald's @ 6:12 pm

I spent a long weekend with my dad in Indianola helping him paint his kitchen/dining room, living room, and hallway.  Wow, 2 1/2 full days of painting and I’m sore and tired!  I scheduled a much needed chiropractor appointment for Tuesday to relieve the soreness.

On Saturday night we spent a relaxing evening at the Salisbury House in Des Moines enjoying Twelfth Night performed by the Repertory Theatre of Iowa.  A beautiful night to enjoy an outdoor show.

A Week of Photos July 27, 2009

Well, this is a super busy week for me at work so I fear all I will have time for are pictures.

Today’s pictures is from Kent Park last week.  A pretty butterfly!

Remember When #2… July 23, 2009

Filed under: Community, Jayne — The Oswald's @ 8:12 am

GarbageGrowing up, I remember the garbage truck driving by the house once a week and the man on the back jumping off to dump our trash into the big truck.  I also remember my brother really, REALLY wanted to be a garbage man so he could ride on the back of the truck.

Well, this morning I see (for the first time ever) the modern garbage truck.  Out pops this little (well, actually quite big) mechanical robot arm thingy, picks up the trash can, and dumps it in the truck…Crazy!

I met Clay Walker! July 22, 2009

It’s a long story (kinda funny) on how my friend CB and I got to meet him, but the jist of it is that it was through work.  We headed up the the Franklin County Fair on Friday for the big meet & greet…2 hours north and west of Iowa City.  What fun!

PS – for those that don’t know, Clay Walker is a country superstar!

I did what!? July 20, 2009

I attended a home party tonight with a friend and did the strangest thing ever.  On the order form I wrote Josh’s name instead of mine!  How weird is that and I don’t even remember doing it.

Shop for a Cause July 20, 2009

Filed under: Clothes, Jayne — The Oswald's @ 5:36 pm

100_1801A co-worker recently purchased a Beads of Hope, Africa necklace at the Iowa City Jazz Festival.  I absolutely loved the unique shape of the beads, beautiful colors, and the story behind these necklaces.  Unfortunately, the website isn’t currently set up for shopping, so I emailed the founder of the company and ordered three…one for myself (duh!) and two as gifts.  The necklaces come in different lengths and I believe she has bracelets and other jewelry as well.

100_1806The beads are made out of recycled paper by women in Uganda.  The purchase of this jewelry goes to help improve the lives of those living in poverty in developing countries, mainly Africa.

Solon Beef Days July 19, 2009

Last night we hit Solon Beef Days with some friends.  Solon is a small town north of Iowa City about 10-15 miles.  They close off their town square once a year for a Ribeye dinner, steak sandwiches, beer tent, live music, fair food & games, and other activities for the whole weekend.  I really wanted to see the hay bale toss, but that was Friday night.

Here are some highlights of the night:

Great Centerpieces July 18, 2009

Pottery Barn has the best table centerpieces.  They are so creative in their use of non-traditional items.

Busy Summer Weekend July 17, 2009

Filed under: Josh and Jayne — The Oswald's @ 9:59 am

SunWe’ve got several things on the calendar for the weekend and I love it!  I really enjoy getting out and doing fun things on the weekend instead of just sitting around, cleaning, and watching TV…life is too short!

Tonight, I’m going to meeting country singer Clay Walker with friend CB to spread the Bagolita Buzz.  Tomorrow Josh has a test of some sort, I may get a pedicure with another friend, boating (maybe), and then off to Solon Beef Days with a group of friends.  Sunday, Josh is headed to Wisconsin for four days for his Annual work meeting and the possibilities are endless for me after he leaves!

Have a great weekend everyone!
