Thanksgiving Tradition November 30, 2008

Josh and I enjoyed our time with family over the Thanksgiving holiday.  We spent Thursday with Josh’s family playing games, laughing, and enjoying the company of family.

Friday I went duck hunting with my brother.  We saw 10 mallards, but didn’t manage to take any home.  The weather was great Friday morning and we managed to snap a couple of good pictures.

Saturday on our way up to Webster City for the Dermand Thanksgiving, we  stopped in Stanhope for our annual Thanksgiving pheasant hunt.  Dad, Nick, Josh, and I have been doing this for at least seven years.  This year we had a couple of newbies; Jason, my cousin’s boyfriend, and my dad’s friend, Deb!Unfortunately, this is one of the only times I am able to pheasant hunt each year so it was fun to get out and boy was this year memorable.  Between five hunters we walked away with 11 birds…this is the first opportunity I’ve had to walk away with that many birds in one hunt!!

thanksgivingI will be on blog vacation the rest of the week.  Miss Zoey will be vacationing at Just Dogs Playcare while Josh and I travel to central Iowa to spend time with family.

Short Circuit or Wall-e November 26, 2008

When I saw the previews for Pixar’s new movie, Wall-e, it immediately brought back memories of the 1986 movie Short Circuit…what a great movie that was.  I always wanted to read as fast as S.C. did!  Now I’m curious to see if Wall-e is anything like Short Circuit or if the only resemblance is appearance.

Is this MY dog? November 26, 2008

Yesterday Josh came home to our first major furniture damage with Miss Zoey.  Unfortunately for Miss Zoey, Josh had to come home first – she was punished appropriately.  I’m not exactly sure where this came from.  We followed her routine, left at our normal time, gave her the proper toys, and her usual goodbye pet/kisses.

I do have to admit though, I was a little happy she chose my great-grandma’s chair.  I have wanted to recover that thing for a really, really long time (as you’ll see from the pictures) and now I have a real reason too!  So, while I did scold her, on the inside I was thanking her.

joshLast night, while reading his National Review magazine, Josh happened upon this ad – the answer to all his sleeping woes!  I think we laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes.

How Yummy! November 24, 2008

How cute is my favorite little man Will!?!  We had dinner last night with Mr. Will and his parents and had a blast.  Mr. Will smiles, laughs, talks, and we couldn’t get enough of the little man’s cute rolls!  My favorite are his little elbow dimples.  We had a nice, quiet, and fun evening with friends.

Wish List: The Kone November 22, 2008

dirtdevil-kone-vacuumI love the convenience and easy of my little Dustbuster, but it has lost it’s power over the few years that I’ve had it.  When I saw Dirt Devil’s Kone and all the colors it came in, it was instantly on my list.  Plus, I loved it’s modern look!

Wish List: Oven Thermometer November 22, 2008

292t05385_oven_thermometerI believe everyone should have an oven thermometer, even if your oven is brand new, you can never trust the oven to be the temperature you set it for.  This prevents burnt cookies, overcooked meat, and dry brownies & cakes.  A month or so ago I had a slight oven catastrophe and had to throw away my oven thermometer.  I am now in need of a new one!

Day Off Update November 22, 2008

Appointment, Christmas cards, shopping, lunch, groceries, laundry, swapped out bedding…a very domestic day!  On a side note, if you’re ever downtown and looking for a great lunch, check out Mama’s on Washington between Subway and Hands.  A great place to grab lunch on the go.  I love the white bean and bacon soup and tuna sandwich.

Day Off! November 20, 2008

ferrisbuellersdayoffI have an appointment Friday morning and a few things to take care of so I decided to let my hair down, throw caution to the wind, and take a day off!  My goal is to not only get everything on my list checked off, but also to document the day in pictures.  I’ve decided one of my resolutions for 2009 will be to take more pictures…this is a great way to start.  I can’t wait to report back my results!
