Daily thoughts and comments on our life…boring as it may be!

Poor Zoey September 30, 2008

Miss Zoey needs to wear the cone during the day and at bed time – anytime we aren’t around – until the scabs on her legs heal.  We put the cone on her last night so she could adjust to it (and not knock things over) while we were home.  Here she is pouting and trying to gain some sympathy.   In an act of rebellion, she refused to lay down at bedtime and remained seated in the same position for at least 10 minutes.

This morning we left the TV on to give her some comfort during the day, but we still got the look of death as we walked out the door.  Maybe she doesn’t like the Golf Channel?!?

It’s tough being the dog!

Doggy Diet! September 29, 2008

Miss Zoey had her yearly check-up today and we’ve got some work to do.  Zoey weighed in at 86lbs, the vet informed Josh she is 26lbs over weight and needs to go on a diet.  She is currently at 1300 calories a day and needs to be at 875 calories.  As she ages her metabolism is slowing down and she can no long eat yummy Lamb and Rice at meal time.  Zoey will now be eating diet dog food.  Seriously!

To top it off, she needs to start wearing her cone until some rough spots on her front legs heal.

Diet dog food, antibiotic, shots, blood test = CHA-CHING!!

Love That Chair September 29, 2008

The Pier 1 ad arrived in the mail over the weekend and my eyes immediately found this chair.  I love the idea of taking a traditional looking fabric and chair style and adding a modern twist by removing the arms.  Not really in the market for new furniture, but I’m sure it would look fabulous in my fantasy new house!

Happy Anniversary! September 26, 2008

Filed under: Josh and Jayne — The Oswald's @ 8:44 am

Tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary – yes, we are celebrating at the football game – and as I was looking at pictures this morning the first thing that came to mind is how young we looked…wedding party included!  (note: I did try and post pictures, but I got the red x!)  Josh and I have been reminiscing for a while about how fast our first 5 years of marriage have gone and that we’ve actually been together for 11 years.  Lately Josh has been talking about the things (foods mainly) he has experienced because of me, here’s his list:

1. Sour cream – mainly on his tacos

2. Chinese food (mongolian beef) – He recalls the exact location he first had it…Southridge Mall, DSM

3. Asparagus

4. Sushi – his all time favorite food

5. Seafood – new favorite: octopus salad

6. Twice Baked Potatoes “Cheesy Potatoes” – Josh said, “you know, if you died I would never have cheesy potatoes again.”

7. Peanut butter on waffles – yummy!

8. Non-Mogan David wine

It has been a quick five years filled with many highs and lows, lots of memories and experiences, and laughter!  Happy anniversary honey!  XOXO  PS – we are celebrating on Sunday at Takanami!

Yuck! September 25, 2008

This gross, disgusting spider greeted Miss Zoey and I walked into the house this morning.  I’m pretty sure I crawled out of my skin before I bravely open the front door and rushed the dog inside.  I can’t believe I worked up the courage to even snap a photo of the thing…I’m shivering just thinking about it.  What if it had jumped on me?!?  I HATE spiders!

It wouldn’t be so bad, but last night while vacuuming  a wolf spider (I think) as big as my palm crawled out the bottom of the vacuum.  I screamed, grabbed a phonebook and dropped it.  Didn’t work, so I grabbed a bowl and trapped it.  Brave Sir Josh killed it when he got home.

If I see one more spider in my house this week I am moving!

Shoes! September 24, 2008

I stumbled upon these Michael Kors heels last week and loved them instantly.  He took the classic black heel and added a twist of subtle flare.  I’m super close to making the purchase, who can pass up a shoe staple like these…don’t tell Josh!

It’s Here!! September 24, 2008

The Sex and the City movie is in stores – yeah!!!  I can’t wait to walk into Best Buy and grab my very own copy…the Extended Cut, of course.

I won’t lie, you may find me on the couch this weekend watching the movie in my S & C dress!

Maine 2008 September 23, 2008

Filed under: Josh and Jayne — The Oswald's @ 8:31 am

The weather was perfect for our entire trip, there was never a cloud in the sky, and the temperature high was always in the 60’s.

On Friday the men played 18-holes, but from the sounds of it, didn’t have outstanding games.  In an effort to save Josh further embarrassment I will not share his golf stories, but if you’re brave ask him for the details!  While the men golfed I shopped at the Freeport outlet mall 20 miles north of Portland.  We ate lunch at the Lobster Shack and had the most amazing lobster rolls ever.  We ate outside and a seagull ran into our table with feathers flying everywhere!  After lunch we headed to Fort Williams Park (the only pictures I have!) to see the lighthouse, old military bunkers, and just enjoy a nice afternoon stroll.  We had an amazing dinner at Fore Street with Jere & Becky along with another couple.  My favorite, the Tuna Tartar and carrots with toasted pecan butter sauce.

Saturday morning we took the ferry to Peaks Island for a picnic with Becky’s co-workers.  In the afternoon the men did cart racing while Becky and I napped in prepartion for another amazing meal.  Dinner was at Street and Company with the same group.

After a huge breakfast on Sunday, the Hall’s sent us packing!  It was such a fun trip, our hosts were the best, and we can’t wait to to go out next year (if our hosts will have us!).
